Trump to exclude citizenship question from census - report

United States President Trump will announce that he decided not to include the citizenship question into the 2020 census, ABC reported on Thursday shortly before the president's official announcement. According to sources familiar with the matter, Trump will instead use executive action to ask the Commerce Department to find another way to get the answer to the citizenship question.

Earlier in the day, media reports suggested Trump will announce that he will use executive action to add the citizenship question to the census.

In June, the Supreme Court blocked the citizenship question, "Is the person a citizen of the United States?" from being added to the 2020 census. However, Trump insisted that the question needs to be added to the census. The Department of Justice is facing three court cases around the US in regard to the citizenship question.
