Iran says will release proof drone was not shot down

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Friday it will soon release footage which proves the United States Navy did not shoot down its drone which approached an American vessel.

"We will soon release drone footage of the USS Boxer, the American warship that [Trump] claimed to have shot down an Iranian drone on Thursday in the Strait of Hormuz, in a bid to let the world’s public opinion know the allegation is groundless and a sheer lie," the IRGC's Public Relations Department said in a statement. The IRGC added that the footage will show the drone "was carrying out its ongoing mission in the region before the entry of the US warship into the Strait of Hormuz," as well as that it transmitted pictures of the US ship before and after the time Washington claims the aircraft was shot down.

On Thursday, Trump stated the US Navy downed an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz after the aircraft approached the American ship. Iran immediately denied the claims but the US later insisted there was "clear evidence" which prove the drone was shot down.
