Iran frees one of UK ships - operator

Iran's armed forces have left a British-owned ship after boarding it earlier in the day, the vessel's operator said on Friday. According to Iranian media, the ship in question, called the Mesdar, was only stopped in the Persian Gulf in order to be briefed on "maritime security and harmless navigation." The crew of the Liberian-flagged ship is now "safe and well" as it sails toward Saudi Arabia, said the Mesdar's operator, Glasgow-based Norbulk Shipping UK.

The owner of the first ship that was captured said it is still unable to reach their vessel, called the Stena Impero, which sails under the British flag.

United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt called the incident with Stena Impero's seizure "unacceptable," after United States President commented that the event shows Iran is "nothing but trouble."
