I wasn't particularly happy with Omar chant – Trump

United States President Donald Trump tweeted on Saturday that people at his rally this week in Greenville, North Carolina, who shouted "send her back" as he started criticizing Somali-American House Representative Ilhan Omar, "love the USA!" While initially he has denounced the chant, he soon praised his supporters who were at the event.

The controversy started with his earlier statement, apparently directed at the four progressive female lawmakers known as "the squad." He wrote that "they should go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came" and "then come back." At the rally, he claimed Omar is known for a "history of launching vicious antisemitic screeds." He has also accused her of praising Al-Qaeda.

"As you can see, I did nothing to lead people on, nor was I particularly happy with their chant. Just a very big and patriotic crowd," he stated today and retweeted a message from controversial British columnist Katie Hopkins suggesting "Don't love it? Leave it!" should be the slogan for the 2020 election campaign.
