Johnson picks Mark Spencer for new chief whip - reports

Boris Johnson, the newly elected leader of the Conservative Party and soon-to-be prime minister of the United Kingdom, will choose current Deputy Leader of the House of Commons Mark Spencer as the new chief whip, Sky News reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter. Reportedly, other media report that Spencer will be "intimately involved" in the reshuffling of the highest positions in the country.

Johnson is expected to start announcing his new cabinet after he officially takes office and attends his first questions in the UK Parliament tomorrow. Multiple ministers in the government of the UK Prime Minister Theresa May already resigned in the past couple of days.

Earlier today, Johnson defeated the sitting UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt in the Conservative Party's leadership race, winning enough support to succeed May as the next prime minister.
