Wall Street closes higher, Nasdaq tops 8K points

Equities on United States stock markets finished the Wednesday's trading session, with the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 closing at record highs. US lawmakers announced the House of Representatives will vote on the budget deal tomorrow. On data, sales of new single-family houses in the US rose 7% in June, while private sector activity increased in July. Facebook Inc., Tesla Inc., Ford Motors Co., and PayPal Holdings Inc. are set to report earnings shortly after the closing bell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.29% at the end of the day, weighted down by Caterpillar Inc. and Boeing Co., which posted disappointing Q2 results. The Nasdaq 100 rose 0.70%, with Texas Instruments Inc. jumping 7.44%. The S&P 500 increased 0.47% as Edwards Lifesciences Corp. surged 9.94%.

The euro was 0.14% lower against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, to change hands for $1.11362, while the pound increased 0.35% to $1.24833 at the same time.
