US, China end trade talks, will meet again in September

China and the United States wrapped up their trade negotiations with a view to meeting again in September, Chinese media reported on Wednesday.

According to Xinhua, the two countries had "candid and efficient" talks and held "deep" exchanges over "major issues of mutual interest." A matter that both sides discussed was China increasing its agricultural purchases from the US as well as the latter creating favorable conditions for the purchases to be carried out. They concluded the talks by reportedly agreeing to meet again in September for the next round of discussions.

The news come after China earlier accused the US of "flip-flopping" on its position in the course of their talks held during the past year. It stressed that the US had to show "enough sincerity and good faith" for negotiations to progress. Its comments in turn came after US President Donald Trump said that China had constantly tried to change potential deals between the two countries to its benefit.
