Wall Street opens higher ahead of Fed's rate decision

Markets in the United States traded ... shortly after the opening bell on Wednesday, as the investors await Fed's decision on the interest rate. United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will present Federal Open Market Committee's decision in a press conference before the session's end, while the microchip manufacturer Qualcomm Inc. and hard-disk maker ​Western Digital Corp. are scheduled to release their earnings reports after the closing bell. In the meantime, trade representatives from Washington and Beijing concluded another round of talks without discernable progress.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose 0.18% shortly after the start, pushed upwards by Apple Inc.'s 4.58% gain. The Nasdaq 100 was trading 0.22% higher, as the Electronic Arts Inc.'s stock price soared 7.85%. At the same time, the S&P 500 increased by 0.08%, also influenced by the Electronic Arts' jump.

The euro decreased by 0.09% against the dollar, buying 1.1147 at 9:30 am ET.
