Exxon's Baytown refinery to reduce production after fire - report

Exxon Mobil Corp. announced on Thursday that production in its Baytown refinery in Texas will be "reduced" after its olefins compound was damaged in a fire, multiple media reported.

The company said that more than 37 of its employees were treated for minor burns and injuries after the fire broke out in the second-largest oil refinery in the United States. Baytown used to produce 560,000 barrels of oil per day before the accident.

In the meantime, Harris County initiated legal proceedings against Exxon Mobil's petrochemical complex over its alleged abuse of environmental laws, according to the local media.
