BHP reports record EPS at $0.78, up 2% YoY

Anglo-Australian mining giant BHP Group reported on Tuesday that its final dividend for the year ended June 30 stood at $.078 per share or $3.9 billion, which is 2% more compared to the previous year. The company's total revenue for the fiscal year 2019 amounted to $44.29 billion, a 2.67% increase on an annual basis.

BHP also announced that its total ordinary dividends were $1.33 per share or $6.7 billion, marking a 13% increase year-over-year. In the meantime, the BHP's debt dropped by 18.5%, down to $9.2 billion. Capital and exploration expenditures were within guidance at $7.6 billion, while the guidance for the 2020 financial year was unchanged at below US$8 billion.

"Our performance over the past five years has delivered an increase in volumes of 10% and a reduction in unit costs of more than 20% across our major assets. Over the 2019 financial year, underlying improvements in our operational performance were offset by the impacts of weather, resource headwinds and unplanned outages in the first half of the year," BHP Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mackenzie said in a statement.
