Ryanair wins injunction for Ireland part of pilots' strike

Ryanair Holdings Plc said on Wednesday that it would continue with efforts to "minimize disruption" with regard to the strike scheduled "by a small minority" of pilots in the United Kingdom for tomorrow and the day after that. While a hearing is underway at the High Court in London to block a walkout by employees from the British Airline Pilots Association (Balpa), it has just won an injunction against the part of the immediate industrial action in Ireland.

The High Court in Dublin issued a restraining order for members of the Ialpa union and said mediation wasn't utilized fully. Judges approved the airline's application and determined that the strike wouldn't comply with a deal reached last year. The organization, a branch of Forsa, represents 180 pilots based in Ireland.

Pilots also intend to strike next month as talks regarding pay and working conditions ended in an impasse. Of note, a five-day cabin crew strike started in Portugal.
