Trump regrets not raising China tariffs further - WH

United States President Donald Trump regrets not raising tariffs on China even higher, the White House said on Sunday.

Trump initially said following his meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson earlier in the day that he had "second thoughts" regarding the newest tariffs that he imposed on China. However, the White House clarified that Trump meant that he regretted not placing higher tariffs and not that he did not want to impose any at all.

Trump announced on Friday that $250 billion of Chinese products would be taxed at 30% instead of 25% from October 1. His announcement came in response to retaliatory tariffs imposed by China on $75 billion of US products earlier on Friday.
