Dow jumps over 300 points at close

Following some relief from the Chinese side in the trade war, trading on Wall Street finished in positive territory on Thursday. The Dow Jones climbed over 300 points at the end of the session as Beijing said it is willing to "negotiate and collaborate."

Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump announced that trade talks with China "at a different level" are scheduled for today as well.

On the data front, initial jobless claims increased slightly, painting a picture of a solid labor market.

The Dow gained 326 points with Caterpillar and the Home Depot leading the gains. The S&P 500 jumped 1.27% at the close as Dollar General rocketed over 10% following the company's better-than-expected earnings. The Nasdaq 100 spiked 1.51%; Mylan and American Airliners were the top performers.
