UK faced with possibility of general election - report

The United Kingdom may face a general election in the imminent future following a dispute over a no-deal Brexit in the Tory majority.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (pictured), threatened to withdraw the whip from dozens of Conservative MPs if they support plans to stop a disorderly withdrawal from the European Union in a move which could pave the way to an election. The PM canceled plans to meet with a group of rebellious former ministers, which include Philip Hammond and David Gauke, which was billed as a last-ditch effort to limit support for the action in parliament.

Johnson, who previously expressed readiness to leave the bloc without a deal, claimed the "worst thing for democracy" would be to cancel the Brexit referendum.
