Walgreens asks customers not to openly carry guns

Following in the footsteps of Walmart days ago, pharmacy store chain Walgreens on Thursday asked its customers to stop openly carrying guns in its stores.

"We are joining other retailers in asking our customers to no longer openly carry firearms into our stores other than authorized law enforcement officials," the company said in a brief statement on its website.

Shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance, pharmacy chain's parent company, jumped 2.41% at 1:51 pm ET.
