US markets lower following Aramco attack

Equities on Wall Street started the first trading session of the week lower following an attack on two Saudi Aramco facilities, which halved the oil giant's output. The United States has accused Iran of being behind the attack, while Tehran denied the allegations. The incident will reportedly delay the Aramco initial public offering. Meanwhile, more than 49,000 General Motors' workers started a strike due to a contract dispute.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.27% at the opening bell as Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. lost 1.14%. At the same time, the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 fell 0.75% and 0.37% respectively. American Airlines Group Inc. was the worst performer on both indexes, tumbling 5.54%.

The euro dropped 0.48% against the dollar to $1.10219 at 9:29 am ET, while the pound decreased 0.38% to $1.24523 concurrently.
