USTR calls lower-level China talks productive

The administration in Washington "looks forward to" the scheduled arrival of a high-ranking delegation from China next month, the office of United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said. The upcoming principal-level meetings follow two days of talks that have just finished and the short statement claimed they were "productive."

The last round was held in the US capital city by deputies. Wall Street stocks dropped as the Chinese delegation canceled a visit to farms in Montana. USTR's team said the discussions have continued in order to improve bilateral relations in trade.

The world's two biggest economies have been escalating the trade war since frictions rose last year, when President Donald Trump decided to roll out the first import tariff package for goods from China.
