Report: Whistleblower to testify if lawyers are there

The person of unknown identity who blew the whistle that led to an impeachment inquiry for United States President Donald Trump "has tentatively agreed" to appear in Congress, CNN claimed without revealing the source of the information. Someone said to be from the intelligence community has sounded the alarm after the commander-in-chief spoke to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in July and asked for the Eastern European state to investigate the business dealings of Hunter Biden, son of Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden.

The news organization learned Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, asked from acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire to secure the needed clearances for the individual's lawyers. The whistleblower has asked lawmakers for assistance, the article adds. Schiff said the panel is urging for the request to be fulfilled "immediately."
