US stocks open higher on trade optimism

United States stocks started the trading sessions with gains after it was reported that the trade negotiations between the US and China have been set for a relaunch on October 10.

In the meantime, official data showed that new orders for manufactured durable goods in the United States rose by 0.2% while personal consumption expenditures grew 0.1% in August.

Shortly after the bell, the University of Michigan will release the Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index report.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.28% led by Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. that went up by 1.18% and JPMorgan Chase & Co. than rose 1.15%. Nasdaq 100 stayed flat while the S&P 500 rose 0.21% at the opening bell.

The euro gained 0.09% against the dollar to change hands for 1.09319 at 9:35 am ET while the British pound was flat versus the greenback to go for 1.23222 at the same time.
