Dow falls over 150 pts after US data

United States stocks went from trading higher at the start of the day on Tuesday and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell over 150 points from the previous day's close as data from the US showed the manufacturing slowdown in September was comparable only to 2009 figures. Meanwhile, the Census Bureau announced construction spending in the US increased by only 0.1% in August.

The Dow lost 0.58% at 10:21 am ET. The index was led lower by a fall in McDonald's Corp stocks which declined 2.34% at 10:07 am ET after the company released its plant-based burger that was created in a partnership with Beyond Meat. The fast food chain also announced a partnership with DoorDash as it is set to sell 1 million BigMacs for 1 cent per burger.

The Nasdaq traded flat at 10:25 am ET.

The S&P 500 decreased by 0.38% at 10:25 am ET after E*Trade Financial Corp plummeted 18.13% at 10:26 am ET after its rival Charles Schwab announced it would be dropping commissions.
