Chevron announces further oil and gas emission reduction

Chevron Corp said on Thursday it plans to lessen its oil production-related greenhouse gas emissions by 5% to 10% during a seven-year period ending in 2023. The company said that this is a part of its continuous attempts to fight global climate change.

As a participant of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) together with Exxon Mobil Corp and BP Plc (BP.L), the company noted it will try to reduce 2% to 5% in greenhouse gas emissions from gas production in the same period.

Chevron Chief Executive Michael Wirth said: "Global demand for energy continues to grow, and we are committed to delivering more energy with less environmental impact."
