US blacklists Hikvision, 7 other Chinese companies - report

The United States Commerce Department is set to blacklist another eight Chinese companies, including video surveillance company Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, the sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Monday.

Apparently, among the remaining seven companies are Zhejiang Dahua Technology, IFLYTEK Co, Xiamen Meiya Pico Information Co and Yixin Science and Technology Co. Apart from these firms, the so-called "Entity List" will include the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region People's Government Public Security Bureau and 19 subordinate agencies, the people said.

The Department of Commerce is reportedly set to announce the decision later today, citing Beijing's mistreatment of Uighur Muslims and other mostly Muslim ethnic minorities.
