US crude inventories jump by 2.9M barrels - EIA

Crude oil in inventories in the United States rose 2.9 million barrels in the week ending October 4, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Wednesday.

US crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.7 million barrels per day, down by 361,000 barrels a day from the previous week. Refineries operated at 85.7% of their capacity while gasoline production decreased from the week before, averaging 10.1 million barrels per day.

Imports of crude oil in the US averaged 6.2 million barrels per day, down by 67,000 barrels per day compared to the week before. Total commercial petroleum inventories dropped by 2.9 million barrels.
