Wall Street closes higher after FOMC minutes

United States stock markets finished the trading session in the green on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve released the minutes of its Federal Open Market Committee's October meeting which showed a divide between the central bankers on when to end the interest rate cuts. On trade, media reported China lowered its expectations for the progress of this week's negotiations with the US.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.70% at the closing bell, led by the tech sector. Microsoft Corp. gained the most, expanding 1.89%. The Nasdaq 100 increased 1.13% while the S&P 500 grew 0.91%. Applied Materials Inc. was the best performer on both indexes, advancing 3.10%.

The euro was up 0.15% against the dollar at 3:59 pm ET, to sell for $1.09729, while the pound lost 0.08% to go for $1.22093.
