Erdogan: Turkey not eyeing any country's territory

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Ankara is not looking to conquer any country's territory and claimed it launched its military operation in Northern Syria in order to ensure security in the region.

"Turkey has no eyes on anyone’s territory, but is carrying out Operation Peace Spring for the sake of security and solidarity with Syrians," Erdogan said in a speech at the TRT World Forum in Istanbul. He also accused Western powers opposed to Turkey's offensive against Kurds of "supporting terrorism."

Last week, Turkey and the United States reached an agreement to suspend the operation and implement a 120-hour ceasefire to allow Kurdish forces to withdraw from Northern Syria. However, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned the country will resume its offensive on Tuesday "if they don't withdraw."
