Russia slams Turkey for offensive in Syria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow said on Tuesday that Turkey's military operation in northern Syria violates the country's territorial integrity. The update, carried by Interfax, came as Russia's President Vladimir Putin met his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who came for a working visit to Sochi to discuss the situation in Syria.

The Kremlin expressed hope earlier that the level of bilateral relations would provide space for "answers to complex problems" in the war-torn Middle Eastern country. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the two leaders would speak about the recent "harsh statements" between Turkey and the United States. The talks will be "long and complicated," he added.
