EIA: US crude inventories down by 1.7M barrels

Crude oil inventories in the United States decreased by 1.7 million barrels to 433.2 million barrels in the week ending October 18, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Wednesday.

US crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.9 million barrels per day, up by 429,000 barrels per day from the previous week. Refineries operated at 85.2% of their capacity while gasoline production decreased, averaging 10.1 million barrels per day.

Imports of crude oil in the US averaged 5.9 million barrels per day, down by 438,000 barrels per day from the previous week. Total commercial petroleum inventories fell by 9.0 million barrels.
