Labour party to abstain on election motion - report

Labour party leadership agreed on abstaining from the United Kingdom's Prime Minister Boris Johnson's election motion vote, one high-ranking member of the party said to ITV's political correspondent after a cabinet meeting.

It was reported this morning that Johnson will bring the motion to Parliament calling for a snap election to be held on December 12. The motion can pass if at least two-thirds of MPs vote for it.

Earlier today, President of the European Council Donald Tusk tweeted that the UK has been granted a flexible three-month delay of the departure process by the European Union member states.
