Report: Trump, Xi to sign interim trade deal on Nov 17

United States President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping will sign the interim trade deal between the two countries on November 17 in Chile, the South China Morning Post reported on Tuesday citing a source familiar with the matter.

The pair will sign the trade truce immediately after the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, the source added, "if everything goes smoothly."

Trade teams from both countries are finalizing the agreement, while President Trump stated earlier the dela could be inked "ahead of schedule." "We are looking probably to be ahead of schedule to sign a very big portion of the China deal, and we’ll call it phase one but it’s a very big portion," he told reporters on Monday.
