US opens slightly lower amid earnings season

Stocks on Wall Street opened in the red on Tuesday after ConocoPhillips, Merck & Co, Pfizer, General Motors and Mastercard posted their earnings. Investors also remained focused on relations between Washington and Beijing after China accused the US of "economic bullying" over its Huawei and ZTE policies despite reports that the two countries are set to sign their interim trade deal on November 17.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat, decreasing 0.01% at 9:46 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 was 0.21% lower at 9:35 am ET as Tesla fell 2.48% at the same time. The S&P 500 was 0.01% in the red at 9:30 am ET.

The euro traded flat against the dollar and decreased 0.03% to go for 1.10960 at 9:36 am ET.
