Shell posts EPS of $0.73, up 4% YoY, profit down 15% in Q3

Royal Dutch Shell plc reported on Thursday its earning per share in the third quarter of 2019 amounted to $0.73. This marks a rise of 4% compared to the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, the oil company said income attributable to shareholders was up 1% year over year to $5.879 million.

However, profit on a current cost of supplies (CSS) basis came in at $4.767 million, or 15% lower in comparison with the year-ago period, on the back of weaker energy prices.

"This quarter we continued to deliver strong cash flow and earnings, despite sustained lower oil and gas prices, and chemicals margins. Our earnings reflect the resilience of our market-facing businesses and their ability to capitalize on market conditions, including very strong trading and optimization results this quarter," Shell's Chief Executive Ben van Beurden commented on the quarter.
