McDonald's fires CEO over violating company policy

Fast food company McDonald's Corporation said on Sunday it fired its chief executive officer Steve Easterbrook (pictured) over his relationship with an employee that violated company policy. Per the company announcement, Easterbrook "demonstrated poor judgment involving a recent consensual relationship with an employee."

Easterbrook, who has served as the CEO since 2015 admitted in the email he sent to McDonald's employees, that he "engaged in a recent consensual relationship with an employee, which violated McDonald's policy." He added that "this was a mistake."

Easterbrook was immediately replaced by Chris Kempczinski, who most recently served as president of McDonald's USA.
