China 'strongly dissatisfied' with Pompeo's remarks

Chinese Foreign Ministry responded to United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's speech given in Berlin earlier on Friday, describing his words as "groundless accusations" and an "exaggeration" of the "so-called China threat."

The ministry's spokesman Geng Shuang added that Pompeo's speech is full of "ideological prejudice" and "zero-sum mentality." "We are strongly dissatisfied and firmly oppose his words," he stressed, warning that kind of speech about China could backfire.

US top diplomat said in Berlin that the Chinese Communist Party uses Huawei as a tool and made a parallel between the regime in Beijing and the former communist regime of East Germany. According to Pompeo, China has created a new form of authoritarianism.
