Kashkari: Job market can still grow

The job market in the United States can still grow as the number is not "as strong as" the current unemployment rate suggests, Minneapolis Federal Reserve Chair Neel Kashkari said at a town hall on Wednesday.

He added that businesses have to go further to get new employees, including offering training to unqualified workers. The central banker also noted that wages need to increase to bring workers to unpopular jobs.

Kashkari added that the number of people in the job market has historically been decreasing because of an aging population and a smaller number of children per family. He went on to comment that risks for the economy still exist, but stressed that continued growth is seen as likely.
