Johnson: NHS more important than US trade deal

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in an interview on Thursday that he would walk away from a trade deal with the United States if the National Health Service (NHS) were to be put on the table.

Speaking to ITV News, Johnson was adamant he would tell President Donald Trump "goodbye" if the NHS was mentioned, denying persistent accusations from the Labour Party that Tories had discussed "selling" the country's public healthcare system.

"The NHS is more important than a trade deal, yes," he claimed during the interview, adding that it is "sacred to us" and "one of the greatest things about British society."
