Facebook: EU-forced data sharing would be risky

Facebook said on Monday that European Union regulators should be careful when asking big technology companies to let its rivals have insight in its data, claiming this kind of move would be risky in the terms of privacy and liability.

European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager previously said that regulators might force tech industry behemoths to provide key data to their competitors but Facebook’s head of global affairs, Nick Clegg, stated this could be dangerous because it “clearly carries with it privacy risks."

Speaking of Facebook's future cryptocurrency Libra, Clegg added that the company "will not proceed unless regulators are satisfied, particularly US regulators are satisfied, that we have ticked all the boxes."
