Cisco acquires Exablaze

Cisco Systems announced on Monday that it has bought Australia-based advanced networking gear company Exablaze. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.

Cisco’s plan is to work on next-generation switches with Exablaze, stressing the expansion of its current AI (artificial intelligence) segment. The acquisition will bring together "Cisco’s global reach, extensive sales and support teams, broad technology and manufacturing base, with Exablaze’s cutting-edge networking, layer 1 switching …and low-latency FPGA expertise," Exablaze co-founder and chairman Greg Robinson stated. The Sydney-based firm was founded in 2013 and deals in data analytics, computing and telecom space. It also has offices in New York, London and Shanghai.

Cisco has made six acquisitions in 2019, with the majority being software companies.
