Disney removing word 'Fox' from brands - report

The Twentieth Century Fox film studio and Fox Searchlight Pictures will no longer have the word "Fox" in their names, instead, they will be called Twentieth Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures, according to a report from Variety published on Friday.

The Walt Disney Co., which acquired the two assets last March together with Twenty-First Century Fox Inc., reportedly wants to disassociate the brands from Fox News, owned by Fox Corp., and maintain a "family friendly" image. No decision has been made in regards to the names of equivalent television studios which also include the word Fox, according to the report.

Removal of the word "Fox" has already been implemented on some logos and posters, the report noted.
