Huawei shouldn't be banned from German 5G network - minister

German Minister of the Interior, Building and Community Horst Seehofer (pictured) stated that he is against banning Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.'s from participating in the construction of the country's 5G network.

Speaking in an interview for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung published on Saturday, he stressed that he is "against taking a product off the market just because there's a possibility that something might happen." A delay of the 5G launch of five to ten years could be expected if the Chinese tech giant gets rejected, he claimed, adding that he completely agrees with Chancellor Angela Merkel on the issue.

Huawei has repeatedly been accused of tech espionage by the United States, which is putting pressure on several European countries to exclude the Chinese company from their 5G networks.
