Chevron gets another permit to operate in Venezuela

Chevron Corp. received another three-month license to continue operations in Venezuela by the United States Department of Treasury.

The permit that was issued on Saturday expires on April 22. Another four oil companies, namely Halliburton, Schlumberger Limited, Baker Hughes and Weatherford International plc also received licenses despite US sanctions against the Venezuelan energy sector.

Sanctions prevent all US companies to deal with any firms controlled by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his government. The special permits the five companies got for the fourth time exclude them from any legal action by the US administration for breach of Venezuela sanctions.
