Disney+ to launch in Western Europe on March 24

The Walt Disney Company announced on Tuesday that its video streaming platform, Disney+, will be launched in Western Europe one week earlier than previously planned.

The new date for the platform's debut in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland is March 24. The service will be available "on nearly all major mobile and connected TV devices at launch, including gaming consoles, streaming media players, and smart TVs," the company revealed in a statement, adding that it will launch the service in Belgium, Portugal and the Nordic countries during the summer of 2020. Subscribers in the Netherlands gained access to the platform when it debuted in North America on November 12, 2019.

The service will be priced at £5.99 or €6.99 monthly, while it will cost £59.99 or €69.99 for a year-long subscription.
