NBA announces All-Star game starters, captains

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, were selected as the NBA All-Star game captains for the second consecutive season, National Basketball Asociation (NBA) announced on Thursday. James led both the league and the Western Conference with 6,275,459 fan votes while Antetokounmpo came second overall with 5,902,286 fan votes, topping the Eastern Conference.

The league unveiled the starters for the 69th All-Star Game as well with Dallas Mavericks' guard Luka Doncic, Atlanta Hawks' playmaker Trae Young and Toronto Raptors' forward Pascal Siakam all making their All-Star game debuts. Houston Rockets' James Harden, Los Angeles Lakers' Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Clippers' Kawhi Leonard, Boston Celtics' Kemba Walker, and Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid will found their spots in the 10-starter pool for the showdown scheduled for February 16 in Chicago as well.

Fans accounted for 50 percent of the vote to determine the starters, while current NBA players and media accounted for 25% each. NBA head coaches will select 14 reserves, seven from each conference, to complete the rosters.
