Russia reverses decision to suspend freight shipments to China

Russia's state railway operator Russian Railways said on Thursday it reversed its earlier decision to suspend all freight shipments to and from China amid the outbreak of the coronavirus.

"In connection with the clarifications received, operational order 89 dated January 30, 2020 is canceled," a new order signed by Sergey Kolesnikov, first deputy of the Russian Railways Corporate Transport Service Center said. Earlier, Russia said it would temporarily halt all railway services to China except the Moscow-Beijing and Beijing-Moscow lines.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus continues to spread in China and abroad as over 8,200 people have been infected and 170 died after contracting the virus. The United States reported the first human-to-human transmission of the disease in the country, while France confirmed the sixth case of the coronavirus.
