Visa 2020 Q1 revenue at $6.1B, up 10% YoY

Visa Inc. announced on Thursday its net revenue in the first fiscal quarter of 2020 amounted to $6.1 billion, a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. Total operating expenses grew 13% versus 2019, with operating income growing 8% in the same three months. Net income rose 10% to $3.3 billion, while earnings per share increased 12% to stand at $1.46.

Payments volume jumped 8% in Q1 on an annual basis, while the number of processed trasactions grew 11%. Cross-border volume gained 9% year-over-year.

“Our fiscal first quarter 2020 reflected stable and robust business growth around the world. We continue to have great success in building and renewing partnerships and growing our acceptance network. We are excited about the recent announcement to acquire Plaid which will enhance the growth trajectory of our business well into the future," Visa chairman and CEO Alfred Kelly said.
