Russia confirms first coronavirus cases

Russia recorded its first coronavirus cases on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said in a statement. The announcement comes as the virus seems to be spreading in Europe. Earlier in the day, Italy and the United Kingdom confirmed they had registered cases of the disease that originated in China's Wuhan. Meanwhile, the Kremlin confirmed the coronavirus was discussed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a National Security Council meeting.

In an attempt to reduce the virus' impact in Russia, Aeroflot announced it would be moving all of its China flights to Terminal F at Sheremetyevo Airport and the only other company flying in and out of the terminal will be China Southern Airlines. All other airlines that were operating from the terminal will be moved to other parts of the airport.

On Thursday, Russia reversed its call to suspend freight shipments to and from China, but decided to close its Far East border with China. The coronavirus has killed 213 people so far while over 9.770 have been infected.
