Dow soars 450 pts after upbeat data

Stocks on Wall Street extended their upsurge into the session on Tuesday after official data showed a jump in factory orders unseen since last March. Investors' fears over the negative effect of coronavirus vanished, especially after a Reuters report claimed China may cut its key lending rate and after the country's central bank announced it would pump 1 trillion yuan into the economy.

Walt Disney and Ford are scheduled to release their financial results after markets close.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained 461 points at 10:31 am ET, or 1.63%, with Nike as the best performer. Caterpillar followed second, while Microsoft and Apple provided the largest contribution in volume.

The Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.62% one minute later, pulled mostly by Tesla's advance of over 12%. The S&P 500 increased by 1.50% at 10:33 am ET, as Ralph Lauren spiked over 10%, outperforming others.

The euro dipped 0.19% on the dollar at 10:34 am ET, buying $1.10372.
