Asian markets trade lower after China data

Stocks across Asia traded lower on Monday following CPI data from China. China's consumer inflation jumped to an 8-year high, according to the country's National Bureau of Statistics. Meanwhile, the death toll from the coronavirus in China continued to rise, topping 900 over the weekend.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 was down 0.21% at 4:35 am CET while the South Korean Kospi Composite fell 0.54% at 4:26 am CET.

In China, the Shanghai Composite declined 0.39% at 4:30 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite lost 0.22% at 4:46 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng dipped 0.70% at 4:48 am CET.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was down 0.08% at 4:49 am CET. The dollar advanced 0.03% against the yen at 4:50 am CET, going for ¥109.798.
