Amazon slams Trump over losing $10B Pentagon deal

Amazon Web Services (AWS) spokesperson accused United States President Donald Trump on Monday of using his executive powers to "to advance his personal agenda" and claimed that the example of this was awarding of the $10 billion Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud infrastructure deal to Microsoft Corp. last October, and not Amazon.com Inc.

"The question is whether the President of the United States should be allowed to use the budget of the DoD [Department of Defense] to pursue his own personal and political ends," the statement given to CNBC by the AWS spokesperson said.

Additionally, AWS said in court documents it wants seven individuals, which it deems "instrumental" in the Pentagon deal process, to testify under oath, naming Trump, former Defense Secretary James Mattis and his successor Mark Esper, among others.
