UEFA bans Man City from its competitions for 2 years

Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) stated on Friday it banned English football club Manchester City from European competitions for two years over violations of financial fair play regulations.

Besides the restriction measure, UEFA also fined the Citizens €30 million over "committing serious breaches" of the associations' financial rules. The club immediately announced plans to appeal the ruling with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

According to Der Spiegel's report dating from three years ago, the club's hacked communications suggested Manchester City deceived the authorities over funds from Etihad's sponsorship, which were allegedly provided by the club owner and ruler of the Emirates, Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
