Audi reopens China plants as virus woes ease

Audi AG's resumed on Monday the production in its China-based factories following weeks of shutdown amid the coronavirus outbreak, the car manufacturer's marketing director Hildegard Wortmann told Automobilwoche. German luxury vehicle-maker has plants in Changchun, Foshan, Tianjin, and Qingdao.

"We started business again on February 17th and are now monitoring the situation every day. The corona crisis in China is not over yet," Wortmann stressed.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen said on Monday that it expects its factories in China to be reopened on February 24, claiming that the company "faces delays due to national supply chain and logistics challenges" caused by the infection.
